COPPER LANTERNS & LAMPS

My lamps can be made to fit your size and design needs. Since they all start from a flat sheet, all options are open to delight the client's wishes. I'm experimenting with 12 volt solar lamps, and would be happy to include this on your new copper post lamp.

WEATHERVANE LAMP
This is my first attempt to use the wind to create action in an outdoor post type lamp. This lamp is over three feet tall, and fits on a 6 x 6 post.

SAILBOAT LANTERN
My second lamp combining vanes and lamps, this has a similar design to the Weathervane Lamp. The arrow and sailboat each are turned by the wind...

DRIVEWAY POST LAMPS (SET)
This is my most popular outdoor copper lamp. I've made many sizes, and since they usually line driveways, they are often made four or more at a time...

COPPER FLOWER LAMP WITH FIBER OPTICS
Striving to create original pieces, I decided to put a bouquet in a lamp. The flowers and stems in this piece have been treated to resist tarnish, which I expect will create a wonderful image when the rest of the lamp turns to green patina.

ICE DANCER: ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE LAMP/VANE
This is for my home. I'm going to put this on a post in the yard. It's a pretty special piece. The Ice Dancer is something I just wanted to do and wanted to try..."

MICHAEL'S "WHITE CHIMNEYS" LAMPS
These lamps were made in three scaled sizes from one design. Two sit atop stone columns at the estate entrance, there are four along the driveway, and four lighting the patio.

DUO/DOUBLE BULB PORCH LANTERNS
Two of my favorite wall lamps. These medium size exterior copper lamps are fun to make, and priced to beat the mass produced styles.

ABOUT THE SECRET COPPER SHOP
NEW MILFORD, CONNECTICUT. LITCHFIELD COUNTY, USA.

Al Ferris CoppersmithI began my craft during the long cold winter evenings in the barnshop in the backyard... many, many years ago. All of my pieces are one-of-a-kind. As an artisan, I simply concentrate on creating the finest pieces I can for those interested in purchasing my work - custom designing and rendering pieces which are truly unique.

I create each piece individually. There are no stock numbers. No standard lists of items available. Each work in copper is unique and hand-crafted. If you see something you like, feel free to contact me directly and I will arrange for you to view the item, or I can custom design one specifically for you. My designs look equally "at home" in contemporary or traditional settings, indoors and outside. I custom craft copper to match your particular needs and imagination - from copper lighting fixtures to garden ornaments to copper wall sculptures.

Please feel invited to call, visit or to arrange for an appointment to meet to discuss a particular project you may have in mind. Although I generally accept commission work directly from individuals, dealer and gallery inquiries are always welcomed.

My copper works fit very comfortably in traditional folk art, Americana and home-specialty shops and galleries. Sculpture, design and copper work costs available on request. Remember, copper makes sense outdoors. Whereas wood will weather and crack, iron and steel will rust, and plastic becomes brittle, copper ages to a beautiful green verdigris patina. Please give a call if you have any questions.
